Rita Vilma, artist
Born in San Francisco and having traveled much of the world as the daughter of a military veteran, I feel very fortunate to have been exposed to the beautiful scenery of the Mediterranean Coast, the botanical beauty of the Hawaiian Islands and the lush Puerto Rican tropics all of which has inspired some of my earlier and more recent floral pieces. My love of art was evident early in my life when I was voted "Most Talented" in my senior year in high school. I continued to pursue my love of art and was exposed to different disciplines while pursuing a Fine Arts degree. I love to visit botanical gardens, go on road trips and spend time tending to my own garden all of which inspire me everyday.
Flowers are my preferred subject and provide me with a virtual limitless palette of color. I prefer to paint with oils using bold, rich colors. I use the impasto technique to create an three-dimensional effect in almost all of my pieces and have built a reputation for my life like florals and beautiful color combinations. My paintings reflect my vision of nature. I hope to spread beauty and happiness to the world through my artwork.
